Windform

Windform. 3D Printing Materials

The studies carried out by CRP Technology from 1996 have changed the scenario of Rapid Prototyping introducing a new concept of Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing: Windform 3D Printing materials have allowed the technology of selective laser sintering (SLS) in order to realize high performing parts for wind tunnel applications as well as finished and functional parts. All Windform 3D Printing materials can be CNC machined.

The development of the Windform line is due to the need to introduce in the market more performing Additive Manufacturing or 3D Printing materials with properties able to distinguish them as the main SLS materials.

All Windform 3D printing materials can be CNC machined and processed with tooling machines if necessary, for example to obtain plans and seats with narrow tolerances.

The range of Windform polyamide materials is composed of different kind of powders, patent-pending and with trademark, developed by the R&D department of CRP Technology and sold worldwide.

Windform SPNEW – Polyamide-base material reinforced with carbon fibers.
HDT (1.82 Mpa) 186,5 °C
UTS per density unit  68,81 Mpa
Tensile modulus per density unit 5623,51 Mpa
Windform SP can be considered a “Top” level material within the polyamide Windform materials for 3D Printing and additive manufacturing.
This material shows increases in impact strength and elongation at break. Moreover it retains its excellent thermal properties and resistance to high temperature.

Windform GTNEWPolyamide-based material with fiber glass.
HDT (1.82 Mpa) 169,4 °C
UTS 56,21 Mpa
Elastic Modulus 3289,80 Mpa
The Windform GT is an absolute new product in the family of polyamide materials for the additive manufacturing not only aesthetically, but also in terms of performance, because it differs from the other WINDFORM powders thanks to its higher flexibility.

Windform XT 2.0 – Polyamide-based material filled with carbon fiber
HDT (1.82 Mpa) 173,4 °C
UTS 83,84 Mpa
Elastic Modulus 8928,2 Mpa
Windform XT 2.0 retains the matte black color of the previous version and features improvements in mechanical properties: +8% in tensile strength, +22% in tensile modulus and +46% increase in elongation at break.

Windform LX 2.0 – Polyamide-based material filled with glass fiber
HDT (1.82 Mpa) 175,7 °C
UTS 59,9 Mpa
Elastic Modulus 6248 Mpa

Windform GF 2.0 - Polyamide-based material filled with aluminium and glass, and it is the evolutionary substitute for Windform GF, our first generation material
HDT (1.82 Mpa) 134,30 °C
UTS 50,60 Mpa
Elastic Modulus 4304 Mpa
Windform GF 2.0 shows a significant improvement in the HDT (almost +8%), that is, the heat deflection temperature as well as an increase in the values of tensile strength and elongation strength, therefore offering greater ductility than the previous version, appreciable in various racing applications and functions subject to greater vibrations.

Windform PS – Polystyrene-based material suited to produce complex investment casting patterns
Better surface quality and detail reproduction
Less “curling” effect in the first layers
Very low ash content, therefore perfect suitable for highly reactive alloys, such as Titanium alloys too, besides aluminium, magnesium, steel and nichel based alloys.

All Windform powders are ruled by EN 10204: 2005 Type 3.1. The line of Windform polyamide materials is composed of different kind of powders, patent-pending and with trademark, developed by the R&D department of CRP Technology and sold worldwide.
